Video surveillance is a critical component of modern physical security. Ideally there are enough cameras, in enough locations, with enough resolution to provide the coverage needed at all times. However, cameras can be blocked by temporary obstructions, as in the image to the right, or by changes to the layout. Even in the best case, it is frequently not cost effective to provide complete coverage of a facility, both in the cost of the hardware and the cost of monitoring large numbers of cameras.

When this is coupled with reduced guard presence and remote monitoring, the problem gets significantly worse. Now, even a simple limit on the field of view can create a significant security hole.

The Mobile Camera Platform is designed to augment existing video surveillance systems by providing a taskable asset on the ground. The robot can be directed to travel to a specific location in the facility, either by voice over the radio or from the command console, to provide video as needed.
